Goodbye, Sam |

It was with great heaviness in our hearts that we laid Sam to rest in our rose garden. His heart failed due to complications after 2 major life saving surgeries in as many weeks.
He has crossed the Rainbow bridge to be with his beloved former master. He will forever be in our hearts.
In the short time we had the pleasure of his company he changed many peoples opinions on Dobermanns as he was a perfect example of the breed.
He was much loved and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Rest In Peace gentle giant.
Loved and missed by
Shaun, Iris, Romy and Zahli.

| Jack and Carla |

It's hard to believe that in four months our two beautiful dogs have become an integral part of our lives. Jack (was Patch) and Carla have settled in beautifully and we feel truly blessed to have them in our lives. We realised straight away that they have had some training as they sat quietly in the car and waited to be told to eat their dinner. We took advantage of the training offered by Underdog training and feel that has further strengthened the bonds we have with our lovely dogs.
Jack and Carla are like chalk and cheese in that Carla is so excitable and very giving of her affection. Jack on the other hand takes longer to warm to you but once he has you have a little mate. We call him the little shadow. Carla is much more toy orientated than Jack but he is always willing to join in. They are an absolute pleasure to watch and play with. They are the best of buddies and curl up together in the same basket.
In the past we had been wary of adopting a shelter dog as we believed that many had been abused or were difficult dogs. Now we realise that there are many dogs coming through the shelter that through no fault of their own have had to be left at the shelter and many of them are well adjusted and are so happy to have food, walkies and somewhere warm to sleep and a new loving home to go to. We are so grateful that we have Jack and Carla in our lives.
Thank you, Suzie & Euan

| Aoife |

Things are going well with Aoife and she and Geordie are happily coexisting happily. She loves going on our daily walks and settled in very well to her new lifestyle. She was a little slow with toilet training (we've really only recently gotten on top of that).
I've done a basic training/manners course with her and we graduated on Monday night. They also run a small paws play group once a month so I'm planning on taking her down there to see if she'd like to play with other little dogs.
She loves going down to Mt Martha and playing with Charlie (who Mum got from you) and my sisters dog Oscar (who she particularly loves and gives 'hugs' to whenever she sees him). The two puppies love to egg each other on and spend most of the time playing like mad fools which she just loves. She learnt really quickly what packing the car meant and loves visiting the rest of the family and the other dogs.
Thanks again for all your help with finding a new little dog - she really is gorgeous and I'm very lucky that she ended up with me (and I know Mum feels the same about Charlie).

| Miffy |

In July 2007 we adopted Miffy, who was previously known as Millie. When she first became a part of our family she was a bit shy, but that's a thing of the past! Now Miffy enjoys playing in the garden and hunting butterflies! She loves to talk to us and answers with a high pitch meow when she hears her name. Miffy's favourite food is tuna and she turns her nose up at everything else! When Miffy was settling in she used to go crazy and run around wildly for an hour at 9 o'clock every night! She has calmed down now that she goes in the garden during the day and gets to have a good run outside.
Miffy is such a joy to have in the family and we all love her to bits! Here are some photos of Miffy that we've taken of her over the months. Thanks to everybody at AAPS who helped us find Miffy!

| Arnie |

We adopted Arnie on Feb 26th, he settled into his new home straight away.He is a lovely natured, gentle dog that constantly wants to please us, and at 7 years of age he still has PLENTY of energy for the kids - he has taken a particular shine to our 9 year old daughter Bethany, and when he gets to sleep inside we always find him curled up beside her bed. He loves his walks and his ball. And we think we are very lucky to have found such a loyal, well behaved, affectionate fellow.
Regards Helen, Anthony and Kids. |
Sox and Min |

Mr Sox and Min were adopted in October last year and moved to a new home on the water with balconies overlooking
a beautiful view.
They both love spending time outside sunning themselves, and watching all the birds around the Marina. They took no
time to settle in with Mr Sox being the boss of the house, while Minnie is a shy loving little girl. They both love their cuddles, and can't wait
to eat their food and get outside. Making themselves comfortable on the bed, they both cuddle in at night and sleep peacefully until morning.
Minnie loves playing with her favourite mouse toy and chases it around the house, but Mr Sox loves to go out exploring the apartment
complex. They have been in good health and feel very safe and secure in their new home. Regards, Louise.

Lucky |

My name is Dee and I used to volunteer at the shelter on sundays. Due to fulltime uni, I haven't been able to go. I adopted a puppy from there and would like to inform she has settled in very well. I think she was called scruffy but we named her Lucky. I would like to pass on my sincere thanks to Sue and the others. I have attached photos. She is a bundle of joy to have and it is a pleasure to come home to see her shaking her bum since she is not yet aware of how to shake her tail by itself :). She jumped the fence on us four times and we managed to get her back each time but thats been the last of it. We took her to Underdog training and she does knows her sits from her drops. She waits when she is asked. However she goes berserk in the backyard when she plays and its just a whole heap of fun.
Thanks Nicky and my best regards to all of you. Take care. Yours sincerelyGayathri (DEE)

Molly |

We just wanted to share an update with you about Molly (we kept her name), our Lab x (the more we look at her, the more we think Ridgeback) who we adopted just before Christmas last year.
When she came home, she was a little nervy, and had no idea even what a ball was (boy how that has changed!). We get the impression from how excited she gets from even the slightest bit of attention, that she was probably left in a back yard and not given much in her old home. She now sleeps beside the bed every night, and loves romping around and playing with her toys. She has 2 cats in the family to contend with, and thinks they are great fun, although I need to keep an eye on her with them as she seems to be under the impression that she is a tiny puppy!
She has put on about 10 kg since she has come home, and is one of the happiest, friendliest dogs I have ever met. We are about to move from the standard block we have now to a 10 acre property in Kinglake, and since she loves going for her daily 4 km walk, we think she is going to LOVE it up there. We will soon be looking for another doggy friend for Molly, as she just adores spending time with other dogs, and we will certainly come to you guys first. We especially wanted to thank your adoptions expert, Suzanne, who also helped me pick out my boy cat Bailey as a baby. She was very thorough with us, and explained everything she knew about where Molly had come from, including that she could be a little timid with males. We haven't seen this occur at all, but believe love and patience has helped her overcome a lot of her fears from her previous life. She is a VERY intelligent dog, although she can be stubborn at times, and is picking up on all the manners we're teaching her.
Thank you so much for all the amazing work you do, without you we never would have found our lovely girl! We shall keep you updated on her progress.
All the best,
Emma, Brett and Molly

Dexter, Georgie, Cosmo, Jess and Otto. |

We would like to thank the Australian Animal Protection Society for the wonderful work they have done and continue to do. We are at the shelter every week and get to witness the wonderful work carried out by all the staff and volunteers as they rehome so many animals so deserving of their second chance at a forever home. Many of the dogs find themselves at the shelter through no fault of their own and its wonderful to see them find and enjoy a new home.
We adopted our first dog from AAPS in 2006 after seeing her at the open day where we were doing a demonstration. Georgie was a very frightened girl when we first met her and had obviously had some terrible early experiences in her life. We made the decision to bring her into our home to share with our other 3 dogs- Cosmo, Jess and Otto. Georgie was petrified when she came home of everything and everyone and it has been a long road to get her to relax in normal every day situations. She is now a happy well adjusted member of our family who copes well in most situations. She is a joy to have around and her endless enthusiasm makes us smile every day!
In early 2008, our oldest dog Otto passed away and we decided we would not get another dog for some time. This was until we saw Dexter (formerly Magpie) when we were assessing dogs at the shelter. We fell in love with him instantly and after careful consideration, added him to our family. He has been a terrific addition and is already helping us help Underdog clients with their dogs! The other dogs have welcomed him with open paws and he is much loved by our extended family as well! Below are a few of our favorite photos- one of the original foursome (Georgie is the big white dog) and one of our not so little Dexter.

Bo |

We just wanted to let you know that after a shaky start that saw him almost returned to the shelter, Bo has now settled well in our home. His behaviour has improved dramatically and we are having a much easier time controlling him.
His hobbies include running around after other dogs, playing with squeaky toys, playing fetch and sitting on people's knees when it's a cold night. He seems to be having a great time getting to know new people and dogs in the area and has more than enough energy for the whole family.
We'd like to thank the people at AAPS for helping us to find Bo who has brought all of us so much enjoyment over the last four months.
Regards, Perry family
