Success stories
Holly

We just wanted to let you know that Holly is settling in just fine. We have had her for little over a month now and are astonished at how quickly she has integrated with our lifestyle. She is one of the most intelligent, gentle and loving dogs that I know of. Thankyou once again for helping us adopt her. She has made a valuable addition to our family! Regards,Pierre & Kerri-Anne

Barn & Hannibal

Here is a picture of our happy family. We adopted Bam a year ago now and boy, has he grown! He is always full of life and loves to sleep in our room either with us on the bed or in his own bed. He has bought such happiness to our family.

We decided to adopt again last week and took home little Hannibal, as you can see he and Bam are great friends. The little tiger loves to sleep under the blankets with us which was a surprise to me when I got into the bed! Together those two are a joy to have around.
Thank you for making our family complete .

Saffy & Maurice

We adopted Saffy (a ragdoll) and Maurice (a ginger DSH) over the Labour Day long weekend and are happy to say that they have both settled in well to their new home. Maurice is full of mischief, and enjoys climbing (everything) while Saffy enjoys watching Maurice's antics and occasional bouts of wrestling. Thank you for making it possible for us to share our lives with these two gorgeous kittens. Marion & Steve

Pippa

We adopted "Pippa", a male kitten, one and a half-weeks ago from Keysborough shelter and we wanted to let you know how happy we are with him! He is very friendly and affectionate, he loved to play and cuddle with us from the first minute on and has adapted perfectly to our house. It is really a joy to have him around.

We wanted to thank all Keysborough Staff for the care and love they offer the animals - it is obvious that Pippa comes from a place where he got the best care possible. Thanks very much and all the best for the future, Sandra and Sebastian.

Mickey and Bella

"Hi my name is Bella, I am a Staffy X Whippet and alot of people at the AAPS will remember me because I used to bite. I say used to because I gave that up and now I am a really friendly girl. "

Yes that's true when Bella first came to live with us she did bite and we had the evidence on our arms to prove it but since living with us and Mickey, she has become the most loveable and adorable little dog and hasn't bitten for absolutly ages. She is very friendly and loves to sit with you whether it is sneaking on the couch or just at your feet. It took a little patience but it has paid off and we wouldn't swap her for anything. She loves to stand on her hind legs and rest her paws on your knee to have her tummy rubbed and when she has sneaked on the couch keeps nudging under your arm to hug her. She adores Mickey and if they aren't together they whimper for each other.

"Now it is my turn, my name is Mickey and I am a wolfhound X heeler/collie. I came to live at my new home with Bella the same day. When I first moved in I had a very bad leg and with the help of the my new owners and the AAPS, I have had it fixed and now I can run all over the place."

Yes Mickey is right he did have a bad leg but now it is fixed and he can run and race Bella around the backyard. He is such a big friendly fellow with lots of wet sloppy licks and a snore that you wouldn't believe when he is asleep, it just rumbles away.. He is like Bella if they are apart too long they look for each other. We wouldn't swap Mickey for anything either. They are great dogs and friends to have living with us.

Sasso

My name is Sasso and I was adopted from your shelter on 2 October 2005 after being there for a while. I am doing really well and have Miguel and Pearl (cats) and Michiba (Beagle) to keep me company.

Nikkii

Thought you might like to know that Gypsy now named Nikitta (nickname Nikkii) has become a very special member of our family. When we adopted her, she was extremely thin and had apparently been bullied by other cats. However, things have changed greatly over the past months.
She has now become the one in charge of all our animals but is loved and adored by them too.
She is very affectionate and loves to play many games, but sometimes is a little cheeky.

She gradually put on weight, but now we almost need to slow down her food intake.
She got used to being fed whenever she was hungry to help build her up, but it's certainly not necessary now.
We are absolutely thrilled with the choice and she is loved by everyone and also enjoys nightly cuddles.
Nikkii looks more and more like our other cat that we adopted from AAPS

Nigel

I just thought I would drop in an email, to thankyou for the new addition to our family 'Nigel', letting you all know Nigel has settled into life in the Duguid Family extremely well, after a few nervous hours, the fridge door openned and immediatly Nigel felt at home.

Nigel is full of fresh personality, if his not stalking the dogs, sleeping on my bed or watching the tv from his scratching post one can most definatly find him in front of the fridge or "helping" out with the cooking! When I arrive home from school, Nigel is generally waiting to play a game of tag, though if he can't be found, I simple open the fridge and the swishing door beckons his enterance, know matter where is his, or where his been!

Mac

Thought you might like to meet Mac's new family (the furry one's!).
Mac enjoys the company of a tortoise shell female, Casey who is around nine months old; yes there is something odd about her front feet, she only has two toes, one that is normal and the other three look like they were melted together! Casey had this from birth and her feet don't bother or hinder her in the slightest. Casey's nurturing personality allowed her to unwind towards Mac first but she is easily startled by him still and will bolt if things get a bit tense! Mac thinks this is a great game until she disappears on, in or around something then what he thinks of as a game of chasey is sadly over! This takes place in the space of maybe 10 seconds or so and he would definately like to extend these "games" but Casey is way too quick for him and his puppy brain.

Will is the black and white baby of the house; he is only four and half months but all the same he makes up in personality what he lacks in age and size! Although he is the same size roughly as Casey now that I think about it. Will's first encounter with Mac was less than ideal; he decided that Mac was of course leaving and he was going to see him off the property! Mac always looks with eager but wary glances at Will but rarely gets within striking distance (Will's striking distance!). I am very pleased to be able to tell you that Mac and Will do have contact now, albeit strickly on Will's terms which Mac is gentleman enough to put up with!

I couldn't have hoped for a better addition to our family, Mac is settling in well, as you can see from one of the photos Mac's favorite possy is upside down and having no shame he does it ALL the time!!! The kids, Nikki and Owen think is very special and to date Mac has only chewed a blank DVD and case into I must say tiny little pieces! This, considering we owned a Bull MastiffxBoxer who ate a couch pales by comparison! But I don't want to speak too soon!

I've been reading up on Deer Hounds and it seems beside sleeping (which is supposed to be their favorite hobby) they love exercise and will fill out if given enough of it. So with his walking and a bit more maturity hopefully Mac's sunken chest will fill in! He is already looking more athletic elsewhere.
