Success stories
Mr. Sooty Gibbs

My name is Mr. Sooty Gibbs and I have 'owned' her (Fi but I call her mummy) for seven years today. I was about one year old when I let her take me home, so she's allowed - by me - to say I'm eight today. (Please 'paws' for effect, I'm a black and white pussy cat).

Mummy remarried a couple of years ago, so if you want to check my history, I adopted her under the name of 'Matthews' but I'm now known as Mr. Sooty Gibbs, Gibbs be the purrfect name...he (my extra special daddy, Cliff) makes sure that I'm brushed every second day and that I have lots of pats and tickles under the chin everyday...she makes sure that I have lots of water and for brekkie I have furball and for dinner tinned fish or chicken or fresh pet mince.

I am definitely an indoors pussy cat...the great ourdoors is not for me...must be something in my memory about being a 'stray' (whatever that is).  Mummy claims that whenever she takes me outdoors, I grip onto her for grim death and look like a 'Garfield' on a car window.

We moved from Black Rock to Parkdale about 15 months ago...from a single storey to a two storey and boy do I love the stairs, cream carpet for my black fur and the floor to ceiling TV screens in almost every room - although you'd probably call the latter windows). As you can see, I have my own email address ('cept she left off the 'Mr.') and lots and lots and lots of toys.  I have special blankets in my family room on my own chair and one in their bedroom and one in my (not so ugly) step-sisters bedroom.

When I let them go away for weekends - which is not that often - I go for sleepovers at the local vets...my daddy refers to this as my summer camp holiday, but I think that 'sleepovers' is so much more inviting don't you??? I have attached a couple of photos of me...I may be a big cat but mummy still calls me her little boy (daddy always laughs at that...don't know why, do you???)...the second photo is of me with my eight year old step-sister taken in May this year...hey, I just thought, I'm now her age (the other step-sister is 14)...

Better go, can hear the rattle of my biscuit tin...Lots and lots of licks and purrs...

Mr. Sooty the Purrfect-Puss-Puss (my full name!!!)

Buddy

Hi I am hoping you might be able to pass this email on to all the wonderful staff at AAPS.  It's just a short note to thank you all and to show you how Buddy has settled in here at home.  He had a quick bath when he got home and a tour from Layla and now as you can see he is one of the family.  Layla and Buddy have been playing very nicely together and its great to see him settling in so well.  Thanks once again and we will keep you updated.

Brett, Nikki, Layla and Buddy Wilson.

Pippin

I just found the ‘New Beginnings’ page on the website and thought I would drop a line to let everyone know what great friends you can find at the shelter. We found Pippin 2 years ago now, after 2 weeks of looking for a dog. She didn’t come out the first time we walked past her pen and we nearly missed her. I remembered seeing the description on her sheet and I really wanted to see her, so I walked back down her aisle a second time. Well, she came out, and what a beautiful, friendly dog she was. When we took her home we quickly found out that she must have been beaten, as every time we picked anything up (a broom, or even a remote control!), she winced and backed away. It took a while for her to realise that we were not going to hit her, but now she loves nothing more than chasing a ball or a stick (no wincing!) in the park or at the beach. She has a new best mate in Scottie, whom we picked up at the RSPCA and they bring us more joy and love than we first thought. Great dogs. Thanks to all the staff at the shelter.

Shell, Stu, Pippin and Scottie
