Dear Australian Animal Protection Society,

Just just a short email to thank you and tell you what a beautiful natured very affectionate dog she is. I cannot understand how anyone could part with such a lovely animal. Bright as a button she's already taken over our house and I must admit given poor old Ranger our long standing German Shepard quite a surprise. We go for a long walk every morning followed by the ritual brush. She has her own bed in the house where she sleeps some times. Most of the night she is next to our bed. In the evening we light the fire and she hops up onto the covered couch next to me and watches the BBC series on the Vets! We are taking her for a train ride with Ranger this Sunday where we will go on our walk around Melbourne following the Yarra.

t's a dogs life! I am so glad I saw her photo and made the effort to meet her.

Kind regards, Nigel Willey

Hello to all my friends at Keysborough. I arrived at my new home safely yesterday. Found the trip quite long and a bit distressing but I've been here one whole day now. I have really settled in well and my new family loves me already. I am particularly fond of Rob but I see that I don't have to cry if he leaves me for a while. He is always going to come back to me. (He says I get the award for the 'being glad to see you' tailwag.)

I am getting plenty of exercise. It's a long walk even to the shed and I've been up and down the back stairs so often I think I must have lost a kilo by now. I will send a photo in a couple of weeks when I am a little trimmer. Until then, keep up the good work. There is a human out there who needs each of us. Love to you all...Duke

A Duke update!

Well here is my Christmas note to all my friends at Keysborough. I am sending you a couple of pictures too. I have lost some more weight, my coat has a gloss to it, and I run around quite a bit. The rest of the time I spend on the verandah resting and watching the clouds go by. My favourite time is in the mornings, I think, when I help prepare the horses' feed. I absolutely adore water and, since we had a lot of rain recently, have had a great time laying in puddles to drink. I sometimes amuse myself by going into the shed and then surprising everyone by dragging out a boot or a glove that I have found. My new family thinks I'm clever because I walk very nicely on a lead (even when they took me into town to the vet to have my nails clipped and to be weighed) and also because I know sit, drop, and roll over.

The last one really gets them and I love it when they rub my tummy. Even the vet says I'm a great dog and couldn't believe my family just drove down there and got me.I hope you all have a great Christmas and a happy New Year. Thank you for the love and care you gave when I was with you and may all my four-legged friends find a forever home too. Love from Duke
