Fitsco

Fitzy's version
"Hi, you may remember me as Fitsco, but my new name is now Fitzy. Last Saturday morning was a miserable rainy day and I'd just settled back into my pen at the shelter after a lovely walk, when two people came to visit me.  They looked interested, but I just lay there not wanting them to think I was too eager to attract their attention but, secretly, I was kind of hoping they'd take me home with them.

To my relief they took me into one of the 'get to know you' yards and, again, whilst I didn't want to show too much interest in their attention, I did just enough to make them like me.  We went and did a cat test, but those cats don't bother me, and the two people thought that was pretty good because they had to be sure their cat wouldn't be annoyed by me. Then, the big decision.  They decided they'd take me home.  I think I was ecstatic, although I didn't want to get my hopes up too much in case they changed their mind while I was put back in my pen while they did the paperwork.  Anyway, they didn't and because I was already microchipped and ready to go, I was allowed to go home with them that day.   Getting my 33kg's into their car was a challenge but I managed, and I'm now living in a loving home and going for two walks, at least, a day to try and get my weight down.  I look forward to regaining my slim, youthful figure and getting back some of my energy.  I'm sure my owners will work hard to get me slim.

Buster (their nuisance cat) doesn't like me yet, but I'm working on it.  At least he doesn't spit and snarl at me any longer.  We might even be best friends one day! Anyway, thank you to all at the shelter for looking after me while I was there.  I will send you an update on my weight challenge as soon as we start to see some positive results. Love Fitzy (Fitsco)"

Our version
To everyone at the Shelter.  Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to adopt Fitsco.  Saturday was an awful morning and we almost thought twice about heading to the shelter when it started to absolutely pour down, but we'd seen Fitsco's photo on the web and were keen to meet her.  She didn't show much interest in us when we went to her pen, but we were very taken with her.  Once she did the cat test and passed with flying colours, we seriously thought we'd found our dog.  Fortunately, she was microchipped and ready to go, so within an hour and a half of seeing her on the net, she was ours.  We couldn't be happier. She is way too heavy, but we think we can already see some of her weight coming off and she seems to enjoy getting out and about for nice gentle walks twice a day.  Every day she becomes more and more sure of her new surroundings and she has settled in beautifully.

Attached is a photo of her on her first day at home.  We'll let you all know how she's going from time to time and send updates on her weight loss.  Thanks to the Keysborough Shelter.  You do a great job, and we're proud to be able to tell people who stop us when we're walking her that we adopted her from your shelter and helped give her a new life.

Regards, Ali & Colin

Bruno

Hello Bruno adopted us from your shelter in April and I thought you might like to know how he was going.

He was initially very nervous and frightened easily but he has learned to trust us and is now the funniest and most affectionate and loving dog you could ever meet. There is an off-leash dog park at the end of our street and every morning Bruno plays with his friends who include a black Labrador called Isabella who was also adopted from the AAPS in Keysborough! We have also discovered that Bruno loves swimming  - when we take him to the beach house he spends hours retrieving a floating ring from the waves.

I've attached a photo of Bruno at the beach with his two favourite toys as I think it shows how happy he is! He does have a few behavioural problems but as we have been told they are most likely the result of past mistreatment or neglect we are taking the time to work hard on his training and are positive that he will be as good as gold very soon.

We love him dearly so a very big thank you to all the staff there for taking such good care of him until he could find us and Bruno sends a big lick to each and every one of you for enabling him to find his proper home.

Best wishes Melanie, Charlie & Bruno

Bart and Edmund

Dear all at Keysborough

My husband & I were fortunate enough to adopt 2 beautiful kittens in December 2004, (Numbers 13272 – Bart and 13290 – Edmund) The boys have grown into gorgeous cats and are a blessing for both of us. They are independent and loving, funny and dignified. I am attaching some photos for you so that you can see that they are very well loved.
Regards, Adrienne Ashmore
