Socky

I adopted Socky and this is her before and after photos I promised to send you. Thanks for spending so much time helping us choose our new pet. We are very happy with Socky and she spent the night sleeping at the end of our bed. Thanks, Colleen

Grace

Could you please pass on that Grace the long haired grey female cat I adopted is doing exceptionally well. She goes outside and wanders around the yard at mums and comes back inside. At my place she spends most of the day under the house. At night, no matter where we are, she sleeps on my bed.

She gets on with Rufus the Doofus just fine and beats the snot out of him if he gets too close BUT every morning she eggs him on to chase her and then takes off under the house, comes back out and does it again. She is confident around dogs and will also strike out at mums dog if he gets too close.

I’ve just built her a massive cat tree – 173cm – so that she can eat in peace without Doof stealing her food – though she is learning to rush back to her bowl if he is in the vicinity. Nonetheless, she has gained weight is just over 4kg now – was around 3 when I got her.

At any rate, she has fitted in just fine – I know Mary? Was a little worried about her as she didn’t know her too well. I’ve attached a photo I just took of Doof and Gracie – or Pussinfoots/Kittymeow as she is usually called. She’s my first cat and a great intro to the species. Not the best pic, but it does show they’re peaceable.

Hope you’re well, Maya

Fizzy

Just to let you know that Fizzy has settled in well and gets along with my German Shepherd really well.

She now wanders around the house and climbs up on the chair and looks out the window at the birds - is really scared of the ceiling fan though. I don't think she has seen one before.

A couple of photos attached for you. She was quite settled in by 6:00 pm on the day of adoption and had already met Zoe (the dog).

Jimmy

Just wanted to give you an update on how beautiful Jimmy is going.
Well he is clearly the kindest little man that ever lived. Not a bad bone in his body. Our whole family loved him at first sight.
He guards his home fiercely from the inside but he is all talk, no action. I think he would welcome a thief with open arms!!
He tries so hard to talk it is amazing..I swear sometimes I make out a word. His health is great..he is a really good weight, his coat looks really nice and I just want to thank you for allowing us to adopt him. He gets on really well with our other cocker Janie..He is so laid back. I am sure he thinks she is the biggest drama queen!!

Take care, Lyneece

Twix

My family came in on Monday to adopt a kitten which my son had saved for.

We expected the kitten (twix), to take a few days to settle but he arrived as if he owned the place.Twix is very active and affectionate and we can hear him purring from another room when he is being groomed by our black lab x kelpie Bella). They have also adopted each other.Twix loves to follow me around the house and is curious of every nook and cranny. We have sent some photos as an attachment.

Thankyou for our new family member. The Trewhitt family.

Buzz

We adopted Buzz on 20th October 2009, we decided to keep her name as she seemed to respond quite well to it.  Buzz is very affectionate & loves nothing better than a good tickle. She has found a good home with us & will be loved & cared for forever.  My mum refers to her as a Lucky Buzz!

One the attached pics shows her on my pillow, on our bed – not exactly where I wanted her to sleep – but I let her stay there anyway because she is so cute.

Thanks, Amanda & Peter

Billy

I adopted Billy the guinea pig in October 2008 as a companion for my female guinea pigs. He is the most gorgeous boy, we just love him. He is up first thing in the morning, as soon as he hears me up in the house he starts wheeking, calling out to me that it is time for breakfast. He waits impatiently at the side of the cage for a scratch, some freshly picked home grown veggies and his yummy breakfast of hay and chaff. He is quite a character and leads all the other pigs around the house or garden when they are having free range time. He has such a big personality for such a little guy and I can't imagine life without him!

Thanks again Leigh and Larissa for letting this precious soul into my life.

Vada

I thought I would just send you a quick email to say merry Christmas. I have attached a picture of the little Doberman we adopted in August (Vada is not so little anymore) and our cats (adopted January 2005). As you can see, everyone is doing very well and getting along nicely.

A happy new year to you and your family too.

Kind Regard, Amy

Pebbles

We live in the sticks on a five acre property in the Upper Yarra Valley.
Pebbles became part of our family just over a year ago now and it is as though she has always been with us. From day one she has been a blessing to us.
She has been such a delight with an odd exception like digging down wombat holes and and coming home covered in red dirt
She loves her early morning walks and spend the rest of the day lounging around on the veranda or in the house with us.
She gets on well with the chooks most of the time apart from the odd bout of jealousy.
We recently borrowed a goat which provided a lot of interesting moments with Pebbles not sure how to respond.
All our visitors fall in love with Pebbles very quickly. Her face is like a cartoon character, larger than life.
She has taken off about 10 kilos in the year and is now very fit & solid rather than the roly poly girl of over a year ago.

We would like to thank Keysborough animal shelter for giving us the opportunity to adopt Pebbles. She has been an absolute joy.

Regards

Liane & Tony

Soxy

A couple of years ago I was at your shelter looking for a dog.

I wandered into the cat area and ended up adopting "Soxy" who was 8 years old. My son absolutely adores him and Soxy sleeps with him every night. He does have a habit of dragging our socks and underwear around the garden however! He is such a loved member of our family I cannot tell you how much joy he brings into our house. Thankyou.

Regards,
Dawn.

Tarsha &. Gilbert

When we adopted Gilbert he was a quiet, shy boy – not really sure how to react to us or our 9 yo shepherd X Tarsha (Tarsha was adopted from AAPS at 6 weeks old)

6 weeks on and he has learnt to play with toys and have enormous fun romping around the house and yard with Tarsha. Gilbert has developed his own loveable personality, he enjoys going for a walk, playing, having a brush and generally lazing around after ‘play time’ with Tarsha.

I have attached photo’s for you to put in your write-up

Over the last 12 months we had the sad and difficult task of having our 3 17year old jack russels put down due to cancer. When the last one went in October Tarsha became very quiet and obviously sad. Gilbert has bought her back to life, playing with toys and him like she did when the jacks were younger. It has been a positive experience for all of us. Also attached is a photo of ‘the boys’ – the brown and white was also adopted from AAPS when he was 3 months old – some 17 years ago!

Thank you

Jasper

We want to update you on a dog that we adopted in August this year. I came in asking for any medium-large sized dog and was first shown Jasper, a dog that had spent his entire 5 years of life outside. Initially told he was never housetrained, i thought we had a lot of work ahead of us! When we brought Jasper home, he was terrified of being caught up on the bed or couch and would run to a corner and shake like jelly. After giving lots of love, it is now near impossible to get him off the bed! (or couch, or spare bed... but god forbid he sleeps on one of his many dog beds!) And as for the housetraining- well, he's never had an accident inside.
Jasp spends his days out 'working' with my partner who is a gardener and his afternoons he spends chasing sticks into the water at the beach. On the weekends, he goes to visit mums great dane, who he adores. We also organise doggy play-dates for him to get to know other dogs, and he is quite fond of Taz (who was adopted from you by a friend of mine soon after we got Jasper.)
We want to thank you for choosing Jasper for us. He has enriched our lives beyond words, and we're pretty sure that he's loving life also :)

kind regards,
paula and sam.
