Jedaa

This is an update from Jedaa, who was adopted on Sunday 6th August.

"Well I've just arrived at my new home in Boronia. It was a long trip from Keysborough, but I just sat quietly in my cage the whole way - keeping a watchful eye on my new dad!

There's lots of exploring that needs to be done. I've made a start but I think there's a whole lot more to see! There's lots of comfy places to sleep, I especially like sleeping on the couch where I can cuddle up to mum or dad.

I've only been here one night so far but I think I'm going to like it here!!

Jett

Dear everyone at AAPS,

My name is Jett & I was adopted in December 2005. I am about 10 months old now & love my new home. I have a big sister Dakota (Rottweiler X) who I love to play with & annoy. I follow her everywhere. Mum & Dad say my sister is so placid & gentle & that she puts up with alot from me. She likes to sleep alot more than me but I can usually wake her up to play. I also have another brother & sister of the cat variety. I like to chase my cat brother around the house, but I'm still not sure about my cat sister - I think she likes me, but I reckon she's a grump so I usually keep away from her!

I get to go on lots of walks, visit lots of friends, go for lots of drives in the car & over summer we went to the beach every week. I had lots of toys to play with, but I have destroyed nearly all of them so Mum & Dad will have to buy me a new stash. I don't mind really as I always seem to find something to play with, not always things that my parents approve of though - like Dad's leather thongs....

I have my own bed but much rather snuggle up to Dakota of an evening. I also love cuddles when I finally get tired enough to stop & rest.
I am a very smart boy & do what I'm told most of the time, but every now & again I like to test the boundaries to see if they have changed!! They don't but I'm learning that.

I love to sit in the front window & let everyone know when someone is walking past. I don't think people realise that I own the footpath out the front & so I remind them about it as they pass. Dakota never used to know that until I told her, so now she helps me tell everybody too. Mum & Dad are so thankful I just know it - even if they don't show it.

Anyway, just wanted you all to know that I am well & very happy with my family. A very special thanks to my foster mum Tess for looking after me until I was adopted - I will always remember you!

Love from Jett
xoxo

Jessie

Hi,

My name when I was adopted was Sheppy but my parents changed it to Jessie as I didn't come to that name.
I was adopted in May 2006 and I have a big sister called Lucy who is two years old and is lots of fun. We spend all day playing tug of war and playing soccer.
Sometimes we get a bit naughty and have knocked over some pot plants and have dug some holes.

I love going for walks and having a run. I also go to dog training with my sister Lucy. I am currently in level 2, I have to practice to drop and stays so then I can go to the next level.

My favourite time of the day is coming in side and sitting with the family on the couch.

Love Jessie (Sheppy) and the Hodgkins family

Chiva

Hello my name is Chiva ( Shiver ) and just thought I should drop in and let you know how I am going with my new family. They are very nice and I have 2 new brothers and a sister ( human ) that I can play with . I love to drag them around the yard with my new chew rope and they play ball with me ( I am so smart I bring the ball back and they throw it again and again ). I just wanted to say a big thankyou to everyone at the AAPS who looked after me until I was adopted by my new family . I have settled in really well and just adore my new human brothers and sister . They let me hop in their beds when they think mum isn't looking and let me hide under the blankets where it is snuggly and warm .

Mum bought me a nice big bed that is in the lounge and I sleep in there while we all watch TV . Mum said that we are going to keep my name because when my new family came home I shook all over from excitement and dad said I lived up to my name ( said as Shiver ) Anyway I will update you again soon -

Thanks again Chiva

Ella & Shiloh

Hello to our friend's at the AAPS,

We thought that it was about time that we forwarded a couple of pictures of the girls Ella & Shiloh.
Now you all remember Ella whom we adopted in April 06 and our Fox Terrier whom we adopted in July 06 and named Shiloh.

My dog Patch who was my loyal companion for 9 years passed away in April 06 and I felt lost without him.
Patch was purchased from an Animal Shelter so I decided to check the Animal Shelter websites, where I first saw Ella's photo. Unfortunately for me when I phoned she had been adopted but when I checked the website 4 days later her picture appeared again. I phoned up and was told she had been returned as she did not get on very well with the owner's other dog. I jumped in my car and headed to Keysborough to meet Ella well if first impressions count "Ella" certainly did not make an effort.

I will never forget her having a go at all the other dog's as she was lead past them to meet me. In the yard she greeted me and then proceeded to run around the yard barking at the birds, a quick sit on my knee and a "how do you do" and that was Ella. Now I did leave wondering if she would eat my 2 cats and that was my only concern as there was something about Ella that made you know she was a good dog. My partner Peter went to meet Ella the next day and she totally ignored him she was just too busy chasing and barking at the bird's in the yard.

We asked for Ella to be tested with the cats at the shelter and she passed with flying colours so the decision was made Ella was to become a member of our family.

Ella settled into her new home the moment she hopped out of my car and explored the front and back yards and the house. She responded to all basic commands and gave me so much love you would think I had been her only owner, she is the most loving and intelligent girl I believe that all Ella needed was a stable home where she could feel love and for all the love we give to Ella she doubles it in return. She has all her canine luxuries a bed in the study, a kennel for when we are not home and lots of toys. She just loves her squeaky soft toy's and I always have the needle and thread on hand for when she has loved them too much.
Unfortunately I have been unable to repair all our slippers which she has pulled apart, we have decided that she must have thought that the whole family needed new slippers.

Ella adores my partner Peter and is very spoilt by Peter with lot's of lovely long walks and runs in the local park and she is a perfect lady when meeting and greeting other dog's. Our cat Tuppy who is 4 yrs old is not fazed by Ella and her size in the slightest. Our kitten Norman who is 7 month's old teases Ella with games of chasey. My daughter Monique recently moved back home, she adores Ella and we both decided that we would like to get Ella a friend so with Ella on board back to the AAPS we went.

We both took a shine to a dear little Fox Terrier after meeting her it was decided that we would introduce her to Ella and fortunately for us the meeting went well. We introduced them on their leads first and then took them out to the paddock so they could get to know each other, it was so funny watching the little dog follow Ella everywhere, Ella was her hero. The decision was made and a very big thank you to Danielle for all your patience and kindness on the day. Ella enjoyed catching up with all her carer's and she certainly
had not forgotten any of the people that had taken such good care of her, the wagging tail and warm greeting said it all.

My daughter adopted little dog and named her Shiloh. Shiloh is the most loving and loyal little dog and she also responds to all basic commands. Monique has bought her little jacket's to wear as you can see in the picture and we all adore her. Now we have 2 dog bed's in the study and 2 of the most precious canine companions anyone could ever have. Both of our cat's love Shiloh she is actually smaller than Tuppy and the same size as Norman. Our home is now complete 2 beautiful cat's and 2 beautiful dog's.

Thank you to the staff and management of the AAPS who work tirelessly giving quality care to the animals who come through your door, you are champions!!
We will keep you posted on the girls.
Kind Regards,
Deb & Monique.
