Success stories
Mia

My husband & I adopted a foxy X called Mia in about March of this year.  I just wanted to let you know that she is doing really well with us & now gets on rather well with our other little dog Zuki.  She has also learnt that one cat will tolerate her & has learnt to stay away from the other as she is not all that friendly with dogs.  She is coping really well & has a nice warm kennel outside & comes in for a few hours of the evening.  She loves her walks but still pulls like crazy on the lead, she can walk for miles she has so much energy. I am sure with time she will settle.  At one stage my husband was not sure whether or not she would stay, but with a little persistence from me she will now have a home for life as I explained to him that someone needs to give her a chance & a good home.  She is so loving & always wants some reassurance from you.  She can be naughty at times but then so can every other dog including our other little one.  I don’t have nay pictures at the moment but will try to get some for you to show you how well she is doing.

I will keep you updated on how she is doing.

Kind Regards, Michele Jenkins

Darcy

We got Darcy in May this year and it’s one of the best things I’ve ever done; Darcy is a bundle of wiry-haired terrier joy! She is excelling at dog obedience and will be trying out for “Fly Ball” soon as she loves running, jumping, retrieving balls and most of all doing it all with other dogs! She has an irrepressible character and love of life. Her little pink nose is prone to sunburn so she wears zinc on bright days. She has discovered she loves water but can’t swim too well. We’ll be teaching her to swim in the beach this summer.

After losing our beloved 17yo welsh corgi, Gira, we didn’t think we’d love another dog quite as much – then we got Darcy and we adore her and she us. Thank God for Dogs!! --Georgia Blomberg

Deefa

Man, you should see the life I am living now. Never mind King Farook, just call me King Deefa. Talk about a dog’s life. Since my fortunate adoption about 6 months ago by Scott of Cranbourne, I have really landed on all paws with this mob. Cop this, a new custom built kennel, proper dog bed, surrounded by a fernery, potted plants & fish pond with trickling water (had a swim in that, much to Mum’s anger but hey, I got around that) & sometimes I have snuck in & got onto Scott’s bed & watched some telly (another idea that did not go down well during a bad case of hair loss). All this & more with my kennel outside the back door under the pergola. But most of all, I get lots of love & I’m spoilt rotten.

Scott takes me for walks but they are more of a jog – keeps me fit though & there is always a greeting & a game of ball when he comes home from school. He is a good mate. Can’t wait till he gets a car. Apologies for the late update & lack of photo but I am never still enough for a photo anyway.Thankyou for looking after me & finding me this great home. I am fit, healthy & happy. Love Deefa (the name stuck)

Norman

Dear Everyone,

My name is Norman (Tag No. 70889) and on 28th October 2006 I was adopted by Katherine Powell who is 11 and her family.

I am having a great time running around my new backyard and love chasing all the birds.  I am also exploring the neighbourhood taking many walks.

My new family want to say a big thank you to everyone at AAPS especially Danielle who was so kind to them when trying to find me. This picture is of me at my new house – enjoying a treat.  Thanks so much for looking after me until my new family arrived to take me home. Love, Norman (Powell) xxxoooxxx

Keada

My name is Keada, a Beagle who in nearly 1 year & 4mths.  When I was at the shelter I was 1 year old, and one day two people and a puppy came to visit me.  They were there for about half an hour and then they said they would take me home!!!

It was a very long ride in the car back to Point Cook, but when I got there my new best friend Shammy and I started to get to know each other.  I am a little older than Shammy but he definitely told me that this was his house but he liked having me around.

It has been nearly 4 mths and Shammy and I do everything together, and we play ALL DAY and MOST OF THE NIGHT until bed time.  I have my own bed next to Shammy in the laundry, but before bed our beds get moved into the lounge and we can sit and have a rest.   I think I might snore very loudly, because I sometimes hear people say “I can’t even hear the TV”.

My favourite place is on the couch…which I like to have to myself, sometimes I get very comfy and push the others off it!!  I am getting used to some training too, I can be a little distracted when it comes to walking on a lead.  Especially when Shammy pushes in front!!!  But my new parents are being very patient with me.

Thank you to the AAPS for finding me a great family!!!
