Success stories
Tyson

tysonMy name is “Tyson” and I was adopted back in December 2005 as a pup. I wanted to let you all know I have settled in really well and basically have the run of my house. My sister “Lacey” (a golden Labrador) can be a pain sometimes and try’s to steal my lime light occasionally but deep down inside I love her very much, she keeps me warm at night and company during the day when everyone is at work. We have a large rope that we play tug-a-war with and most times I win as I am very strong. We have a bed each however I prefer to share as Lacey keeps me warm.

I am growing into a big boy, am already over 8 months old and I have a deep bark with which I love to use when strangers walk past the house or when someone rings the doorbell. Mum tells me I have personality plus and she also says I love to make faces when I don’t get what I want and between you and me she tends to give in when I use them “works like a charm”.

I get two walks a day and get to ride in the car plenty which I absolutely love.

My “nonna” looks after me when my mum isn’t home and I get to play with her dogs Rosie & Brandy more so Brandy as she is still a pup herself. I have made lots of new doggy friends over the months especially Cody, Buster and Bindy with whom I love to spend time with and when I am very good I get to spend the day with them and by the end of it both Lacey and myself are very tired and spend the rest of the night sleeping. Must be off now as I have some toys to chew and some more chasing to do, my mum has attached a couple of photos for everyone to have a look at, Until next time.

Love Tyson and the Heitman Family xxoo

P.S My family and myself wanted to thank Tess and everyone at the animal shelter for doing such a great job of looking after all the animals.

Max

Hi Everyone, I thought it was about time to update you all a little on our beautiful boy.

My husband and I adopted Max in September 2005, after viewing him on your website.  Prior to this Marek and I decided that we wanted a beagle and had waited for about 18 months before Max made an appearance. Anyway, my mother and I drove down to AAPS to see for ourselves and I instantly fell in love with Max and rang my husband to tell him that Max was the one. We haven't regretted our decision and absolutely love him to bits.

Max has settled in very well and being a typical beagle and a typical puppy he has chewed his way through many things(lucky we don't have a garden!) around the backyard.  He loves his walks along the river where we live close by and cannot wait to go each day.  He loves meeting other dogs and playing chasy and going for a swim. He's pretty good with ball games too.  Max loves his food especially a big fat bone for treats and fruit and vegetables!(quite a healthy dog).

Max lives with 3 hens also and he loves his girls and though they are a bit wary of him at times due to his boisterous nature, they love him just as much. Because Max is so much a part of our family we take him with us almost anywhere and as a result he enjoys travelling in the car - it's more excitement and adventure for him! Max is a bit of a clown and we alI just enjoy his antics everyday. I am sending you some pictures of Max that we hope you all enjoy and hopefully we will update you some more in the future.

Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity of sharing our lives with such a wonderful companion!
Kind Regards Marie Lapiejko

Twiggy

My name is Barbara and last year our faithful 15 year old dog died and not long after that our beautiful 18 year old cat died too.  After that I said no more animals for me, but fortunately my friend Jane who volunteers at AAPS kept telling me about the poor cats at the Shelter just waiting for new homes.  Eventually we visited the shelter and we choose Twiggy to come home with us.  She settled in very quickly and now sleeps at the end of our bed.

Twiggy is so loving and spends most of time inside with us, only going outside occassionally and she always comes when I call her.  She is the most delightful cat and it is so nice to come home every day to her big welcoming meow and a smooth from her.  A BIG thank you to Jane for twisting my arm and all the staff at AAPS who do such a wonderful job.   Just look at how happy she looks now - almost as happy as I am to have her.

Biskit

sd

Hiya All the guys and girls at AAPS,

This is Biskit here, and just thought I should drop you a line on how I am training me new family. They are very nice and they have a couple of children that I can play with. One big one and one smaller one which I love to drag around the front room by my new chew rope. The bigger child has grown quite attached to me and I make sure I jump on him everytime he's sleeping to make sure he's still alive.

My male owner is sure great!!! He has got me all sorts of dog biscuits and chew ropes and smacko's and food to eat. I have helped them tidy up their youngest sons play room by removing some useless toys, great for chewing on but useless to play with. My female owner is a pushover, she lets me sleep on the bed with her and I take over the bed by spreading out over both sides and she thinks I am adorable. She has taught me to shake paws and to sit down and have my paws dried when I come in from their nice backyard. They even have a bird feeder to attract birds for me to bark at. Next week she will teach me how to give a kiss!!!! Now this is going to be fun.

dAnyway will give you some more updates when I find time from my exhausting life. Thanks again for finding me this wonderful family!!!! - Love and Kisses -Biskit

Morris and Jerry

It’s been almost six months now since we adopted Morris and Jerry from the AAPS so we thought we’d give you a quick update on how they are going. Both have become rather big and boofy and very content! They are in a nice routine of going outside during the day whilst we are at work and coming in to the warmth of the heater when we get home. They love playing with one another particularly since we have put a sheet up in the lounge to close off the hallway for the cooler months. Somehow they think that is quite funny and have been playing hide and seek amongst it and pouncing on each other, it wont be long before they pull it down! I sometimes call Morris the “Feng Shui” Cat! He follows me around from room to room omitting calming energy wherever he goes. Jerry is rather the opposite, he is full of beans most of the time, always ready to play and has really taken to our laser light pointer. He manages to jump pretty high up the walls and skidsacross the floor, I recommend to anyone with a playful cat to try it, it is very amusing!

Both of the boys are absolutely beautiful and it is as if they have always been with us now. We couldn’t imagine life without them, they bring such happiness to our house.

The photos I have provided include Morris at our front fence and the both of them snoozing together on the floor, also one with Morris on the couch and Jerry asleep under the coffee table. We hope you like them. Thanks again to the staff at AAPS for all the wonderful work they do.

Regards, Ros, Jack, Morris and Jerry xxx
