Donating to AAPS
Find out the ways you can help the animals in our care
We take in hundreds of animals each year and depend heavily on volunteers, funding from our four Op shops, donations, gifts, and bequests. We are a registered charity and therefore we do not receive government assistance.
Donate now to help pay for their care, food, bedding, veterinary needs, de-sexing, vaccinations, and maintenance.

SPONSOR A PEN
Each year, approximately 1800 dogs and puppies and 3000 cats and kittens are taken into the care of AAPS, along with numerous other animals, including birds, possums, sheep, rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens, and goats. Every year we spend hundreds of thousands of dollars feeding, treating, and housing these animals whilst they are in our care. You can help AAPS to continue its invaluable work in animal welfare by sponsoring a pet pen.
Sponsor a pen online here for instant payment or visit the shelter office.
OTHER WAYS TO SUPPORT
You can donate money for vaccinations, microchips and de-sexing or you may like to make a donation in the form of a gift for friends or family online here.
You, as an individual, or your business may like to make donations for events such as open days, training sessions, raffles, etc.
LEAVING A GIFT IN YOUR WILL
leaving a BEQUEST
A gift in your Will to AAPS will continue your support of animals and will help us to maintain our high standards of animal care and welfare.
To make a bequest, what do I do?
We strongly suggest that you consult a solicitor to ensure that your intentions are clear. It is important that the correct wording is used, and that the correct title of ‘Australian Animal Protection Society’ is stated (rather than ‘The Keysborough Animal Shelter’, which is a colloquial term).
Your bequest could include a percentage of your estate (residue) after you have provided for family and friends.
You may prefer to leave real estate, assets, a specific monetary amount, or shares etc.
Subject to more detailed advice from a solicitor, AAPS suggests inclusion of the bequest text found here (PDF 206KB)
If you would like further information about AAPS or would like to discuss any proposed bequest, please telephone the Shelter and ask for a Committee Member to contact you.
